Reducers are an essential connection element in piping systems when two different nominal diameters need to be joined. Reducers – Function and Design
A reducer is used to change the cross-section of a piping system in order to regulate flow or connect different pipe dimensions. They are distinguished as follows:
● Concentric Reducer: The centerlines of both pipe ends are aligned – ideal for vertical pipelines with uniform flow.
● Eccentric Reducer: The bottom edge remains continuous – preferred in horizontal piping to avoid air pockets or to enable drainage.
